Oil derricks, smoke, and lots of good ole’ chili, it was that time of year again in Kilgore, Texas. The 17th Annual East Texas Oilmen’s Chili Cook Off was held on Thursday, November 5th at the World’s Richest Acre in Downtown Kilgore. The event benefits the Crisis Center of Kilgore and thousands of chili aficionados flocked to the city. This year the Carter Chambers, Kilgore location pulled together as a team in this year’s cook off to help raise money, compete and have a good time.

The competition featured 70 companies in the industry cooking about two tons of chili from scratch, on-site for a team of 30 judges and the general public, of course. Awards were given out for the “Best in Show,” the “Judges’ Overall,” and the coveted “People’s Choice” category. Although Carter Chambers did not take home any honors, our team stood out with a Mardi Gras theme and our high-energy attitudes. We also added a little “Cajun Kick” to our pot of chili.

Thank you to the wonderful Kilgore team members who pulled together to make this event such a success. We also couldn’t have done it without the help and support from the corporate office. A special thanks to Tom and Dan for taking time from their busy schedules to come out and enjoy this time with co-workers and customers. We are all looking forward to next year’s benefit.
